What are the highs and lows of vacationing in Honduras?

The Highs are their preservation of the Myan (or whatever) temples. The lows are that its an overall dangerous place to be.
Its a good place to visit. If you stay out of the big cities and explore the small towns and villages you will meet some real nice people and learn a new culture at a fraction of the money you will spend in the larege cities. Good luck!
Honduras is a great place for vacationing or living. I have lived there for the last year and I like it a lot. For someone from the US, the prices are very cheap and there are many great places to visit. It is also not very dangerous — obviously you shouldn’t walk around flaunting your money or anything, but you don’t need to be afraid of walking around either. Just be smart.
Some great places to visit around Honduras are:
-the beaches at La Ceiba or Tela
-Copan (where the Mayan ruins are)
-Comayagua (small city with many interesting places such as the Cathedral. Comayagua has an amazing and beautiful week of celebrations before Easter including colorful sawdust carpets that are made overnight before Good Friday by people all over the city)
-Lake Yojoa : a large, beautiful lake about 1 1/2 hours from San Pedro Sula
-Pulapansak Waterfall: near Lake Yojoa. It is a beautiful waterfall in the forest. There is also a zipline for adventurers.
You could also check out the bigger cities (Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula) but in my opinion they are not as interesting as they’re very commercialized.
