What do you do when?

By fthomas | February 26, 2009

honduras vacation
La Mexicana ;)…(same person) asked:

Has it ever happened to you that you have had such a magnificent holiday, and now that you are back, you are depressed because you miss it? I know it sounds stupid, but I moved last year from Honduras to Austria and left all my friends behind. Today i just came back (from vacation in honduras)and i can’t help but feeling sad and depressed and missing my friends and all the good times. Although i think we might go back next year, waiting until June, July or August seems like an eternity.

What do you do to deal with days like these?

you know, do stuff that makes me really busy so i would forget about something. lol. I have kind of have the same experience as you, i went to the coldplay concert, and it was the best night of my life so far, for a couple days i was kind of depressed because i wanted to watch more of them hahaha….all it is is that you’re still recovering from the excitement…much like me

I’ve lived in five cities in three different countries throughout my life. Each time I moved I’d be in your situation. One advise is to socialize more at your new place. You can join a sports club or gym, hang out at coffee shops or local bars or join other local organizations. You’ll familiarize yourself with the new environment/neighborhood/lifestyle and potentially get new acquaintances along the way. Another way, is to have your friends come visit you. You can explore Austria together, then you’ll have new memories to keep there.
